Primer: 2004
Science fiction drama.
I didn't just want to research a low budget trailer. I thought it would be interesting to look at trailers and films that had a low budget but also made a very big profit, as this would show the popularity and what type of low budget trailers do best. This will help with my project as Annabel and I will want to make a trailer with a low budget but with the potential to make a profit like these films mentioned. I did some research and came across a film called 'Primer' made in 2004, although I haven seen it myself, I didn't like the trailer too much. I felt as if the story line was not presented to the viewer clearly and I think if this was done on purpose to want the viewer to watch on, then it was incorrectly brought across. However this film was made with a low budget of $7,000 and made a worldwide gross of $565,000, which doesn't sound like too much compared to the film industry these days, but considering the companies budget was $7,000, it's a pretty impressive profit. One point I did like about this trailer is that it includes lots of text, maybe too much in some cases. But I did like the use of it as it can replace scenes in a low budget film that meanwhile in high budget films would be effect expensive clips of the film.

Halloween: 1978
Horror.
Another example of a low budget trailer and film that made a good profit was Halloween, this is mainly because so mainly sequels have been created since 1978. It was interesting to watch as it is the same genre that Annabel and I will be looking at closely. This is a good trailer in terms of creating a dramatic and captivating trailer without using special effects or expensive lighting or makeup. The budget for this film was $325,000 and has now (after all the sequels) made $70,000,000 worldwide.
